HL co-founding shareholder Michael G. Homeier will speak at the upcoming EB-5 Industry Forum 2017 for IIUSA (Invest in the USA, the industry regional center trade organization) on the prominent panel addressing “From Jail Time to SEC Actions, Mandamus to Civil Proceedings (and everything in between): EB-5’s Growing Footprint in the U.S. Court System.” While the EB-5 industry awaits long-promised legislation from Congress to improve the integrity and functionality of the industry, the SEC continues its oversight and enforcement of securities violations discovered in a small percentage of offerings, while regional centers and other industry participants are often forced to resort to mandamus litigation in federal court to compel action by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services agency tasked with operating the EB-5 Program. The prospect of civil litigation against projects for economic failure, or simple failure to achieve promised (or anticipated) results looms on the horizon. All will be addressed by this Monday 10/23 afternoon panel, closing out Day 1 of the conference, followed by another day and a half of practical panels and breakout sessions addressing all the topics of highest salience in the EB-5 industry in 2017.
