Vanessa L. Au practices general business and corporate transactional law, with an emphasis in the following areas: entity structuring and formation, general corporate counseling, corporate finance, secured and unsecured lending, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital financing, public and private securities, licensing, internet, technology, and e-commerce. Vanessa represents clients that are established middle-market and large-cap companies, start-up companies, and entrepreneurs in a wide array of industries, including financial services, cleantech, healthcare, food and beverage, retail, hospitality, aviation, manufacturing, real estate, technology, and entertainment.
Prior to joining Lexcuity PC, Vanessa was an associate in the Finance and Restructuring group of Paul Hastings LLP. While at Paul Hastings, Vanessa represented banks, hedge funds, commercial finance companies, and other lenders in secured lending transactions (including asset-based and cash flow lending transactions) in connection with the financing of mergers and acquisitions, going private transactions, working capital, recapitalizations, and restructurings. Vanessa also gained experience in cross-border lending arrangements involving a variety of industries, including software, media, telecommunications, restaurants, manufacturing, and transportation.
Before practicing at Paul Hastings, Vanessa served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Maureen A. Tighe, United States Bankruptcy Judge, Central District of California.
Vanessa received her B.A. from UC Berkeley and her J.D. from UCLA School of Law. At UCLA, Vanessa was a Senior Editor of the UCLA Law Review and the Chief Managing Editor of the Pacific Basin Law Journal. Vanessa is a member of the State Bar of California.
